Somerset House is preparing for a busy season ahead of the launch of its annual ice rink, Skate at Somerset House with Fortnum & Mason, taking place 18 November 2015 – 10 January 2016.

Set in the stately surroundings of the neo-classical courtyard, Skate – now in its 16th year – invites event organisers to book time on the ice for a minimum session of one hour, with daytime and evening availability for Christmas parties, drinks receptions, lunches and dinners.

The package includes use of the building’s other spaces including the Portico Rooms, The Navy Board Rooms or Seamen’s Hall, where guests will have the opportunity to enjoy food and drinks overlooking the Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court before taking to the ice.

Partnering for the second year with Fortnum & Mason, the world-famous London department store will take over the West Wing with a shopping pop-up, The Christmas Arcade and Fortnum’s Lodge, the après Skate restaurant and bar. The seasonal arcade showcases the best of Fortnum’s gifts, gourmet fare and fashion accessories. Fortnum’s Lodge will serve a delicious seasonal menu filled with Fortnum’s favourite dishes, warming winter drinks and a new Botanical Bar. The Skate Lounge offers a front row view of the ice rink, offering a range of festive drinks, snacks and winter treats.

Emma Barrow, Head of Events at Somerset House, comments: “Skate is one of the capital’s most popular and visited Christmas outings and we are delighted to welcome corporates to kick start their festive season. We want clients to experience as much of the venue as possible so offer packages on a bespoke basis, and as well as this, event organisers have the opportunity to coincide their bookings with Somerset House’s current exhibitions.  This additional cultural offering along with the stunning 18th century courtyard as the backdrop makes for an unforgettable winter experience.”

Dates for corporate hire of the ice rink are subject to availability and each package is quoted on a bespoke basis.
