The Science Museum Group (SMG) has strengthened its events team with the appointment of Neil Ormondroyd as Group Sales Manager, and the promotions of Ben Lheureux to Group Operations Manager, and Claire Russell as Marketing & Sales Executive.

Joining SMG from Allianz Park where he was Event Director, Neil Ormondroyd has assumed the newly created role of Group Sales Manager, which sees him utilise his 14 years of experience within the events industry to enhance and promote SMG nationally.

Commenting on his new appointment, Neil Ormondroyd says: “I firmly believe that if you are working in an environment that you are truly passionate about, for an organisation that is at the cutting edge of all things, the limits to your success are endless; The Science Museum Group provides that environment.  The Group is renowned for evolving event spaces suitable for any type of event so the decision to join as Group Sales Manager was an easy one.”

Having achieved great success in his role as Event Operations Manager at the Science Museum, Ben Lheureux has been promoted to the new position of Group Operations Manager, giving him greater responsibility in increasing the Group’s profile and profitability in the corporate market.

“Working for such a unique and flagship organisation as the Science Museum has been an incredible experience” says Lheureux, “Being able to take this new role on a national level is an amazing prospect. I really look forward to working with the fantastic teams in place and making a real success of the unique opportunities arising in each museum.”

These changes are as a result of the recent promotion of Sam Owen, previous Head of Commercial and Live Events to Head of Commercial Operations – Experiences, in a move that will widen his remit to include retail catering and commercial on-site experiences, such as simulators and the IMAX Theatre, as well as retaining corporate, commercial and live events.

In further changes to the team, Claire Russell is joining as Marketing & Sales Executive across the Group, replacing Alicia Earls. “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the team. The Group represents some of the most inspiring and fascinating venues available and I look forward to using my experience to help promote corporate events and to drive profit for these cultural institutions.”
