Robinson College inspires delegates at inaugural Clic+ show
Event organisers from the medical, pharmaceutical and education sector came together last Friday (7 November) at the University of Cambridge’s Robinson College for the first ever Clic+ conference and trade show.
Organised by Robinson College, in partnership with Cambridge Event Management, the event was designed to explore new ways to maximise delegate engagement through the content and interactive value of events. Focusing on such topics as technology, networking, social media and nutrition, the day featured a programme of workshops, talks, and networking, allowing attendees to interact and engage with the event content.
Keynote speakers included Zibrant’s managing director, Fay Sharpe, who engrossed delegates with an inspirational and thought-provoking journey detailing how she became the successful businesswoman she is today. CEO of life-science membership network, One Nucleus, Harriet Fear, shared her unique experiences of conference and event planning, drawing on her 20 years’ service as a British Diplomat and UK Business Ambassador.
A coffee break with a difference was provided by Off Limits Corporate Events with the fast paced ‘In It 2 Win It’ activity, which allowed every delegate and exhibitor to network whilst completing a series of fun and fast paced challenges against the clock.
Local Cambridge companies, Method Creative and Cambridge Cookery School (CCS), ran educational workshops on the day; Method invited delegates to create a story with them via social media, highlighting the benefits of event marketing, whilst CCS got attendees’ taste buds tingling with an interactive foodie session that explored the positive and negative effects of our nutritional choices.
With a focus on networking, attendees were each provided with ‘oneTap’ badges, courtesy of local event solutions company, Blendology, which enabled delegates to easily swap details and share information. Technology workshops run by both Panasonic and Blendology showcased the latest event and networking technology gadgets, allowing visitors to test them out first-hand.
The day drew to a close with an in-depth panel session led by Robinson College’s conference and catering manager, Nick Milne, and featuring: Tom Gibson, product marketing specialist, from Panasonic; Tine Roche, director of CCS; Martin Stephens, director of Off Limits Corporate Events; Lee-Anne Penn head of healthcare account management from Zibrant; and Bill Munday, founder and CEO of Blendology.
Panellists gave their opinions on a variety of topics, including the value of social media in events, the importance of nutrition on concentration and the importance of the industry engaging with younger generations. Audience members joined in the lively debate by putting questions directly to the panel, as well as tweeting them to appear via the Tweetwall Pro live feed screen.
Commenting on the day, Nick Milne, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the feedback we have received from Clic+ attendees. The purpose of Clic+ was to put on an event that would be both inspirational and engaging for delegates from start to finish. From the enriching talks by Fay Sharpe and Harriet Fear, to the workshops and networking activities, delegates were constantly being offered new and thought provoking content. It was great to see that attendees could really benefit from the day but also enjoy themselves, which is exactly how an engaging event should be.”
Clic+ event partner and CEO of Cambridge Event Management, Alessandra Caggiano, added: “’It was great to see first-hand the delegates’ enthusiasm, as well as receiving such positive feedback from attendees, exhibitors and speakers. We’ve definitely got the recipe right and the event provided lots of food for thought.”
Following the huge success of this year’s event, the organisers have announced that the next Clic+ will take place on October 1st 2015.
