National Railway Museum launches Leaves on the Line campaign
National Railway Museum launches Leaves on the Line campaign.
The National Railway Museum in York is launching a campaign to celebrate the great English heritage and tradition of afternoon tea. The campaign, entitled Leaves on the Line, coincides with national Afternoon Tea Week, which takes place 10-16 August 2015.
As part of the campaign, the Countess of York, the NRM’s beautifully restored 1956 Pullman-style carriage, will be hosting free tea tasting workshops to highlight the vast array of different types of tea available as part of its afternoon tea packages. Guests will be able to enjoy a selection of Taylors of Harrogate Fine Leaf Teas including Tea Room blend, Lady Grey, Imperial Gunpowder Green Tea, Afternoon Darjeeling and China Rose Petal on Tuesday 11th August and Thursday 13th August at 11.00 and 15.00.
The Countess of York will also be offering a special Yorkshire-themed afternoon tea throughout the week to highlight its locally sourced ingredients at their best. A gluten-free menu will also be available.
In addition to this, the team at the Countess of York will have a stand in York city centre on Monday 10th August where they will be showcasing the beautifully restored railway carriage as the perfect location to indulge in some afternoon tea delights. The team will be armed with some delicious cake samples to tempt visitors to stop by and celebrate Afternoon Tea Week on the Countess of York.
The National Railway Museum is also offering its Twitter followers the chance to win a Champagne Afternoon Tea for two on board the Countess of York. To be in with a chance of winning, just tweet a picture of yourself and your friends or colleagues enjoying a cup of tea and/or a piece of cake to @NRM_Events with the hashtags #AfternoonTeaWeek #LeavesOnTheLine. The winner will be announced on 17th August.
Traditional, locally-sourced English Afternoon Tea is served on board the Countess of York at 12noon, 2pm and 4pm daily. The venue is available for exclusive corporate or private hire and can accommodate 33 guests across its two carriages.
There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews with a member of the events team on Wednesday 12th August from 4pm.
