Levy Restaurants, the sports, leisure and hospitality division of Compass Group UK & Ireland, has announced the winner of the national ‘Kids Bake-Off’ competition. The competition ran across 16 historic houses, castles and museums operated by the group and sought the best of tomorrow’s baking talent.

The winner, Rebecca Argall aged nine from Preston, impressed Levy Restaurants’ creative chef Paul Jennings with her ‘compost muffins’ which showed her colourful imagination and an outstanding flair for baking. Rebecca entered the competition through the Museum of Science and Industry, one of Manchester’s leading cultural attractions, and was presented with the winning prize of an iPad Mini at the venue on 30 November. Her creation will now be added to Levy Restaurants’ seasonal bakery selection across its UK leisure portfolio. Rebecca said, “I am so delighted that my compost muffins won, I had so much fun making them and I’m looking forward to creating more pictures of cakes on my new iPad.”

By creating promotional ideas for the cafes and restaurants in its portfolio, Levy Restaurants aims to engage all customers in the finest of British hospitality and help its clients ensure the excellent catering provided is an integral part of the unique experiences which each of the venues provide. The ‘Kids Bake-Off’ initiative proved a great success with over one hundred entries from aspiring young bakers across the UK.

Paul Jennings, executive chef for Levy Restaurants, commented: “It is very important to us that we create unique customer experiences at the venues we work with and the ‘Kids Bake-Off’ competition has been an exceptional project that has provided the opportunity for the younger generation to really get involved and ignite their interest in baking. I am very impressed by the quality of entries, which ranged from spaghetti and meatball cupcakes, to rocky road layer cake.”

Levy Restaurants is an official catering and hospitality provider for prestigious venues including The O2 Arena, Chelsea Football Club, Somerset House and Twickenham Stadium to Liberty in London and the SECC in Glasgow; all of whom have different demographics and business needs.
