Juliet Price, past Chair of the HBAA, handed over a cheque for £26,949.00 to WheelPower at the HBAA stand at International Confex last week.

Juliet nominated WheelPower as the ‘Chair’s Charity’ for the duration of her tenure as HBAA Chair in 2011. Funds were raised through Juliet’s determined commitment in promoting the charity throughout the Association’s calendar of events, from the Annual Dinner to the HBAA Forum; she also took on personal sporting challenges including the 10 mile Bupa Great South Run last October, which she completed in an admirable 1 hour 32 minutes and 50 seconds.

WheelPower is a national charity for wheelchair sport which provides opportunities, facilities and equipment for thousands of children and young adults with disabilities to participate in recreational and competitive wheelchair sport and improve their quality of life by enjoying healthy active lives.

Juliet Price said, “Having chosen WheelPower as my Chairman’s Charity last year, it is wonderful to present this cheque to Martin as it represents the overall fundraising and generosity of the members of the HBAA during the past 12 months. WheelPower has been a great charity to work with, it’s been a pleasure to raise awareness of the amazing work they do, and we know this money will make a huge difference to so many lives.”

Martin McElhatton said, “We were delighted to be chosen by Juliet as the HBAA’s charity of the year for 2011. They have raised a fantastic amount for WheelPower which will go towards providing opportunities for disabled children and adults to take part in wheelchair sport. We would like to thank everyone involved for all their hard work throughout the year.”
