Accredited in Meetings (AIM) has appointed One Great George Street’s Director, Gary Payne, as chair of its development group with immediate effect.

Some of Gary’s key objectives include:

  • Developing and increasing awareness of the accreditation’s importance to the corporate, agency, associations, governmental buyers, venues and event suppliers’ communities.
  • Drive collaborations between AIM and other key industry bodies.
  • Support the recent launch of the AIM Expert scheme which boost booking agencies knowledge of the accreditation.

As a figurehead at the helm of the AIM Development Group (ADG), Gary will oversee a team of seven and will liaise with mia’s board to implement the accreditation’s communication strategies and goals. Gary will act as AIM ambassador promoting the accreditation across the MICE sector.

Commenting on his new position, Gary Payne said: “I am thrilled to be chair of such an important industry scheme. I am a passionate supporter of AIM as it gives venues and event suppliers an opportunity to demonstrate to their clients from the outset how serious, committed and good they are at delivering meeting and event business. For time-poor organisers and event buyers this means a whole range of guarantees and peace of mind.”

Jenny Sheehan, AIM’s communications manager added: “The accreditation’s growing recognition in the marketplace is having a great effect on the meetings and events sector; this is evident from our increasing list of accredited venues applying for AIM Higher and the feedback of corporate clients favouring AIM venues and suppliers at their events. Our long-term goal is for AIM to be a permanent requisite of corporate and agency’s RFPs and we are confident that Gary’s vast experience and industry contacts will be instrumental to help us achieve this.”
