Event Exeter achieves further CSR accreditation
Reed Hall Wins Gold for Business Tourism
Reed Hall, part of Event Exeter which comprises The Forum and Peter Chalk Centre, has been awarded Gold under the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
The grade II Italianate mansion was assessed on a range of performance factors including energy and water efficiency, waste management and biodiversity. The venue achieved the highest accolade in recognition of its environmental awareness, encouragement of local food and drink suppliers, promotion of public transport and attractive habitat management.
Set in 300 acres of landscaped gardens at the University of Exeter, Reed Hall is a popular venue for corporate meetings and conferences for up to 80 delegates.
With sustainability and environmental responsibility increasingly high on the agenda for corporates, the award will help to cement the reputation of Event Exeter’s CSR conference and events offering. The recently opened £48m Forum also boasts demonstrative credentials; the environmental impact of The Forum building was minimised through its design and methodology and re-used and recycled materials where possible along with Green Guide ‘A’ rated materials at every opportunity.
Rob Court, Event Co-ordinator for Event Exeter and Site Environmental Coordinator for the GBTS project, said: “As this is the first time we’ve undertaken a Green Business Tourism, assessment we were hoping to achieve the silver rating, so to hear that we’d been awarded Gold was fantastic news – we’re over the moon.”
This is the second green accolade for Reed Hall this year, as the Campus Services team at the University has recently been awarded the Environmental Management system ISO14001, as a result of their robust policies and procedures in environmental performance.
Reed Hall joins just a handful of other venues in the area that hold the Gold award and will continue to keep sustainability high on the agenda as they work towards the next GTBS assessment in 2014.
