Inspired by appearance on hit TV programme The Roux Scholarship and designed by Michel Roux Jr.

Cactus Kitchens, home of Michel Roux Jr’s cooking school, has launched a number of new cookery experiences named, ‘Cooking the Roux Way’ after its appearance on The Roux Scholarship on UKTV’s Watch. The master classes have all been devised and approved by two-Michelin-star chef Michel Roux Jr.

The experiences are designed to capture the ethos and passion of this family of culinary masters, meaning fans of the show, whatever their skill level, can learn essential techniques and tips on how to follow in the footsteps of respected chefs.

Michel Roux Jr designed the Cactus Kitchens school and holds his own experiences there.  The school featured on The Roux Scholarship programme on Wednesday night’s episode where Michel challenged the scholar finalists to create appetising recipes from mismatched ingredients.

The all-day experiences are taught under the expert guidance of one of Michel’s protégées who are currently working in his London restaurants. They include, Chris King, Chef de Cuisine at Roux at the Landau, Steve Groves, Head Chef at Roux at Parliament Square and his Masterchef the Professionals right hand woman, Monica Galetti.

The Roux Scholarship TV series on Watch marks the 30th anniversary of the Roux Scholarship as it chronicles the competitive process participants go through to be named the next Roux Scholar.

The programme was produced by Cactus TV, the same team behind the set-up of Cactus Kitchens.

The Cactus Kitchens cookery school is based in Clapham, London above the set where BBC One’s, Saturday Kitchen Live is filmed.  It is equipped with 12 bespoke, individual cooking stations, with state-of-the-art Miele induction hobs and ovens, and a large demonstration area. Each station is stocked with Global knives, Kitchen Aid mixers and Green Pan cookware.
