A winning start to the summer
Lord’s Cricket Ground now prepares for the highlight of the season
Officials at Lord’s Cricket Ground started the season on the front foot last week, with the successful delivery of the first Test between England and the West Indies. Preparations are now underway for the rest of a busy season, including up to 55 further hours of international cricket. First up, are age-old rivals, Australia, who are due to play a One Day International against England on Friday 29th June. This match is followed by two fixtures immediately after the Olympic Archery competition – which is being held at Lord’s – against South Africa: the last Test of the summer, starting on Thursday 16th August, and a fifty over clash between the two sides on Sunday 2nd September.
The world famous “Home of Cricket” is offering upscale hospitality packages for each of these fixtures, hosted in a range of revered event spaces across the Ground. In particular, the Captains’ Lounge, hosted by a former international cricket captain, offers guests a choice of menu and fine wines at their table, while packages in the light-filled Nursery Pavilion allow guests to watch the teams warm-up as they eat their breakfast, and enjoy a Q&A session with cricketing celebrities during the lunch interval.
Julie Bacon, Hospitality Manager at Lord’s Cricket Ground said: “Either side of the London Olympics, 2012 is set to be the busiest summer in decades at the Home of Cricket. Following England’s clash against the West Indies in May, we are now looking forward to delivering the pinnacle of the international summer, when England take on South Africa in the final Test of the season at the end of August. We are expecting to host over 110,000 spectators during the match, including a full hospitality package, across our unique range of event spaces.”
